IHEARTCOMIX Announces LA Film Premiere of Daft Punk’s ‘Interstella 5555’

Daft Punk’s Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem will be premiered at United Theater in Los Angeles on September 30.

Daft Punk might be most renowned for the music they produced and the game-changing production elements they brought to stages worldwide, but another aspect of the duo’s storied career was film. In 2003, the duo released the anime film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem as a companion to their album, Discovery. Now, over two decades later, the film has been remastered in 4K and will be premiered at Los Angeles’ United Theater on Broadway on September 30 in partnership with IHEARTCOMIX.

Aside from the rarity of it being screened, one notable aspect about the 4K remaster of Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem is that the sound has been upgraded along with it. This will be the only way to hear Daft Punk’s beloved album Discovery in Dolby 5.1 Surround, placing you right in the midst of the soundscapes that the robot duo crafted all those years ago.

The Los Angeles premiere won’t just feature the anime film. After the screening, a moderated panel will occur with Cédric Hervet, who wrote the script with Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and was their creative director, and Pedro Winter, the duo’s former manager and founder of Ed Banger. And if that wasn’t enough, the party will continue to press on even later with an official after-party that will feature performances from Busy P and other secret guests.

This remaster of Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem is the latest piece of media from Daft Punk after the duo parted ways in 2021. Since then, they have released multiple anniversary albums, a drumless version of Random Access Memories, a string of Memory Tapes, and more.

Tickets for the Los Angeles premiere of Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem are on sale now. Head to AXS to make your purchase.
